About the Award

CIOMajlis has launched the region’s first annual innovation award for university students, which will give them an opportunity to work in the largest IT companies in the UAE. The “Future CIO Award” was launched at the first CIOMajlis Annual Conference, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, amid the presence of top CIOs from government and private sectors throughout the UAE.

The Future CIO Award promotes innovation in the field of Information Technology by providing students a platform to display their talents and receive unparalleled exposure to a huge community of IT professionals and vendors that can beneficially affect their career path.

About the Award

The “Future CIO Award” was launched at the first CIOMajlis Annual Conference, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, amid the presence of top CIOs from government and private sectors throughout the UAE.

The Future CIO Award  promotes innovation in the field of Information Technology by providing students a platform to display their talents and receive unparalleled exposure to a huge community of IT professionals and vendors that can beneficially affect their career path.

Criteria

Students should submit an academic-related information system project that they consider to be innovative. Projects may include something that improved a process, increased performance, improved productivity, or the development of a new tool or application.
Submissions must include:

Project abstract and report

  • Describe clearly the project in up to 250 words.
  • Mention the long-term objectives & specific goals of the Project along with a timeline.
  • Describe the methodology to achieve the goals.
  • Explain the micro and macro benefits of the Project.

Mention Team Leader, Participants, Companies that were part of project

  • Give details of the number of team members, the role and accountability.

All projects, Ideas to be Original ideas

  • Project idea should be original. Participation will be cancelled at any stage, if the idea is found to have been copied.

Copyrights, Trademarks and intellectual property to be respected

  • Projects with infringement of copyright, trademark and IPR will subject your participation to cancellation.

Jury Setup

The jury comprises of selected technology leaders and experts from across the UAE and GCC. Not only will our Jury members use their expertise and considerable time to evaluate different innovation projects, they will also advise and connect with companies supporting the Innovation Award, and ensure positive outcomes for winning participants as well as companies.

Evaluation Guidelines

Award

2 winners per edition. 1 local and 1 expat.

  • The award aims to encourage all students- Emirati and Expats- to go beyond the ordinary thinking patterns and utilise their talent to the maximum, with the ultimate goal of taking the UAE to further heights in innovation and excellence.

Award winners to be provided with job offers in leading organizations.

  • First-of-its-kind award which rewards the winner with a life transforming benefit of joining leading names in IT and other sectors. The benefit comes to the companies in terms of gaining the best talent, and to the students in terms of obtaining a gainful employment with prestigious organizations.

Winning projects to be published in media outlets.

  • Winning projects will gain massive exposure as they get the opportunity to publish their projects on online and print media.

Submitted Project must be used to improve employer organization.

  • The project should be able to bring a positive outcome relevant to the employer organization.

Award winner must mentor next year competitors.

  • In order to achieve the ultimate goal of this award of bringing out the best talents among the youth and taking the UAE to further heights in innovation and excellence, the Award will involve award winners, who will be required to mentor the next year competitors.

Rules, Regulations and Eligibility

  • Only one submission per student will be accepted.

This is to encourage students to work with focus and cover maximum aspects of their innovation, and also give opportunity to more students to present their innovations. More than one submission will lead to rejection of the ones received later.

  • The award will go only to the person who submits the entry

Multiple individuals may contribute to a single project submission (Their participation should be noted in the submission. However, only the person submitting the entry will be eligible for prizes if the submission is selected while the others will be recognized).

  • Must be at the last academic year.

To ensure the project is new and relevant, it should have been completed in the last academic year.

  • Projects must be approved by university before submission.

Participating universities will approve the projects from their students.

  • Codes will be provided to students for projects submission.

This will ensure only the participating universities to be part of the award.
