About the Award

CIOMajlis has launched the region’s first annual innovation award for university students, which will give them an opportunity to work in the largest organizations in the UAE. The ”Future CIO Award” was launched at the first CIOMajlis Annual Conference, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, amid the presence of top CIOs from government and private sectors throughout the UAE.

The Future CIO Award promotes innovation in the field of Information Technology by providing students a platform to display their talents and receive unparalleled exposure to a huge community of IT professionals that can beneficially affect their career path.

The award aims to encourage all students – Emirati and Expats – to go beyond the ordinary thinking patterns and utilize their talent to the maximum, with the ultimate goal of taking the UAE to further heights in innovation and excellence.

Project Guideline

Students should submit an academic-related information system project that they consider to be innovative. The project should improve a process, increase performance, improve productivity, or develop a new tool or application. 
Submissions must include:

Project abstract

  • Brief about the project up to 300 words.
  • Details of the number of team members, the role and accountability.

Detailed Report (Not limited to)

  • Detailed description about the project, methodology, benefits and added value.
  • Long-term objectives and specific goals of the project.
  • Project implementation, milestones and timeline.
  • Project technical design (service logical design/network design as applicable).
  • Micro and macro benefits of the project.

    Jury Setup

    The jury comprises of selected technology leaders and experts from across the UAE and GCC. Not only will our Jury members use their expertise and considerable time to evaluate different innovation projects, they will also advise and connect with companies supporting the Innovation Award, and ensure positive outcomes for winning participants as well as companies.

    Evaluation Guidelines

    Rules, Regulations and Eligibility

    Projects must be approved by university before submission.

    Participating universities will approve the projects from their students.

    Only one submission per group.

    Only the project leader who is eligible to submit the project.

    Codes will be provided to students for projects submission.

    This will ensure only the participating universities to be part of the award.

    Must be a capstone project.

    Since the award is a job, we need to ensure winners are in the graduation phase.

    Group Size

    Group size should be not more than 5 students.

    Award

    There will be only one winning project

    The members of the winning project (maximum number of 5 members) will be recruited by the employers.

    Award winners to be provided with job offers in leading organizations.

    First-of-its-kind award which rewards the winner with a life transforming benefit of joining leading names in IT and other sectors. The benefit comes to the companies in terms of gaining the best talent, and to the students in terms of obtaining a gainful employment with prestigious organizations.

    Winning projects to be published in media outlets.

    Winning projects will gain massive exposure as they get the opportunity to publish their projects on online and print media.

        General Notes

        • The award and its conditions (fully or partially) are subject to modifications without any prior notification.
        • Projects with infringement of copyright, trademark and IPR will subject students’ participation to cancellation.
        • Copyrights, Trademarks and intellectual property will be respected.
        • The jury will consist of independent subject matter experts from outside academic fields.
        • The jury has the right to eliminate a person within a group if they feel he didn’t add any value.
        • In the unlikely case, if all submissions are weak, CIOMajlis has the right to cancel the award for the year.
        • Recruitments are subject to government and employers’ policies.
