We stand on the brink of a technological revolution that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work, and relate to one another. In its scale, scope, and complexity, the transformation will be unlike anything humankind has experienced before.

Already, artificial intelligence is all around us, from self-driving cars and drones to virtual assistants and software that translate or invest. Impressive progress has been made in AI in recent years, driven by exponential increases in computing power and by the availability of vast amounts of data, from software used to discover new drugs to algorithms used to predict our cultural interests. UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has launched the UAE’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy, marking a new level of innovation built on Smart Government. The strategy is the first of its kind in the region and the world and will see investment in the latest AI technologies and tools to enhance government performance and efficiency.

Industry 4.0 will lead to a supply-side miracle, with long-term gains in efficiency and productivity. But at the same time it could yield greater inequality, particularly in its potential to disrupt labor markets. The session covered the 4IR and the role of AI, overview of some of AI applications in different industries, AI and automation and the future of Jobs, how UAE is reinventing government services using AI and finally what UAE enterprises need to do to embrace AI.
